Hey guys. I hope you had a fab bank holiday weekend with all the nice sunshine that we had! Not long until the next bank hol :)
Today on the blog I have a review of the recent Meebox which was Material Girl. Inspired by the one and only Madonna.
In the box we had four polishes, (yes four polishes!!), nail foil, a stamper and scraper and a stamping plate.
My first swatch was using a brand I've actually never seen before. This is number 48 Black by Mavala. After a quick Google this seems to be a Swedish brand that do more than just nail polish. The nail polish apparently delivers microscopic air pockets to allow the natural nail underneath to breathe.....but we know this isn't necessary as nails don't breathe. It's cute and handy for travelling. My swatch is two coats.
Floss Gloss Gangsta Boo is a nice pillar box red. It's more like a jelly polish but it was still opaque in two coats.
Onto a more familiar brand, Flylac by Models Own is such a lovely shade of Lilac. It's got a very subtle shimmer to it too but it's only visible in the flesh. Swatch is two coats.
Get Your Cote from Leighton Denny is a stunning azure blue and the formula is fab! This is two coats.
So here's the first nail art I tried with the items from this box and is was a disaster!! I was a bit silly and used a sticky polish to try get the foil to stick to my nail with, but really you need foil glue! I was going for a sheer black lace look with a red corset, which I stamped using the MoYou Back To The 80s 05 plate from the box. Shall we move onto the next nail art?!
I totally felt like I redeemed myself with this groovy nail art! My friend at work said it gave he Saved By The Bell vibes...how ace was that show?!
I used Get Your Cote as a base from this mani and I coloured in the top on my middle finger using it. I had painted with Ask The Magic 8 Ball from NCLA, which was in a previous box. I did use Flylac to colour in the belt buckle by that didn't fit on my nail fully :( This image was from the Timetravller 05 plate.
The other images and words are from Lina - Feeling Shapely 02 and Uber Chic 22-01. Other colours used are:
Esmaltes Da Kelly - Bruce, Chuvisco and Kaa
Hit The Bottle - As Black As Night and Snowed in
I did cheat with this mani a little bit as I didn't used the stamper from Meebox. It's a good little stamper, but that's the issues, it's little. It's great for beginners and little nails but I prefer a big clear stamper personally.
Here's a list of all the items in the box:
Mavala 48 Black - £4.95
Models Own Flylac - £4.99
Leighton Denny Get Your Cote - £12.00
Floss Gloss Gangsta Boo - £7.95
Sparkly Nails Lace Foil - £2.49
Back To the 80s 05 - £4.50
Classic Stamper and scraper red - £2.00
So if you bought all these items separately is would cost around £38.88, plus any postage and packaging you would need to pay. This box was £20.00 from Meebox! If you like nail polish and enjoy a surprise then you definitely need to sign up for this box. It costs £20 per month or if you sign up for three months up front it works out to be £18 per month. The theme gets announced on the 1st of every month and your box is usually shipped out on the 23rd by Royal Mail and it's tracked too!
Don't forget to check out Meebox on their social media below.
Bye for now x
